How your safari day works
Total duration: 10 hours
Including a 1-hour lunch break inside the park.
(Lunch is not included: clients may buy food at the restaurant or bring their own snacks/sandwiches.)
Pick-up & Departure
Pick-up available within a 15 km radius of Anderson Gate
Subject to the lodge or campsite allowing vehicle access
Pick-up time: between 6:30 and 7:30 AM, depending on the season
β If clients are staying inside the park at Okaukuejo
Pick-up at Okaukuejo is possible only if we already have clients in the vehicle when entering the park.
If there are no clients to collect before entering, then guests staying at Okaukuejo must come to Anderson Gate, where a free and secure parking area is available.

Meeting time: between 6:30 and 7:30 AM (depending on season)
Free and secure parking on-site
Clients should:
β Bypass the queue and park on the right side before the entrance
β Look for the Tom Safari Namibia 4x4
β Or ask any other guide where Ben, the guide manager/dispatcher, is located
Start of the Safari
The safari begins as soon as the vehicle enters the park.
All our guides are local and NTB-certified, using their experience and deep knowledge of Etosha to reach the best wildlife viewing areas.
β The vehicle is equipped with:
9 raised open-view seats
1 front seat
A protective roof
Rain ponchos available if needed
Wildlife Viewing
Your guide communicates with other vehicles in the park to maximize wildlife sightings.
The goal is to increase your chances of seeing Etoshaβs Big 4:

You may also see: giraffes, zebras, springboks, oryx, kudus, ostriches, jackals, hyenas, and many more.
Lunch Break β 1 hour
After the morning drive:
Stop at one of the parkβs restaurants
Possibility to buy food on-site
Or bring your own meal
(Lunch is not included in the safari price.)
Afternoon Safari
After lunch, the safari continues through different waterholes and key areas to maximize animal sightings.
End of Safari & Drop-off
At the end of the safari:
Guests are dropped off exactly where they were picked up
(Or at the meeting point if they came with their own vehicle)

β The safari continues normally, the vehicle is covered and rain ponchos are provided.

There is no lunch break.
Departure & meeting point
π No pick-up is available for half-day safaris.
Clients must come directly to Anderson Gate.

or between 13:00 and 13:15 PM for afternoon half-day safaris

End of safari & return
After about 5 hours of safari, the guide will bring you back:
Exactly to the initial meeting point (Anderson Gate)
For clients from Okaukuejo, to the same point where they were picked up (if pick-up was possible)

The visit includes the round-trip drive, the welcome inside the village, cultural exchange, and the discovery of their traditional way of life.
Departure & Pick-Up

Guests must come directly to Anderson Gate, where free and secure parking is available.
In some cases, pick-up may be possible at lodges or camps located within 30 minutes of Anderson Gate, only if the establishment authorizes access to the guide.

To be arranged with the client after booking, depending on their schedule for the day.
Drive to the Himba Village
Approximately 45 minutes of driving from Anderson Gate.
Arrival & Village Introduction
Upon arrival, visitors are welcomed by the village chief or a community representative.
Your guide will act as a translator/interpreter, as the Himba language is completely different from English.
You will discover:
- Traditional handmade huts
- The sacred fire and its cultural significance
- The pastoral lifestyle
- Traditional hairstyles, clothing, and body adornments
- Local crafts (jewelry, pottery, daily-use items)
School Visit (Depending on Availability)
If the village school is open, visitors may:
- Meet the teacher
- Learn about the Himba education system
- See the notebooks and school materials
(Access may vary depending on the day and the children's activities.)
Cultural Exchange
Visitors will have the opportunity to:
- Ask questions
- Interact with families
- Discover the culture in an authentic, respectful way
- Observe daily life without any staged experience
Your guide will continue translating throughout the visit.
End of Visit & Return
After the village exchange:
The guide will drive guests back to the original meeting point (Anderson Gate)
Or to their lodge/camp if pick-up had been previously agreed
